A top industrial equipment supplier believes training management is the key to success.
Verwood-based Key Industrial is improving staff skills with management development training from KJ Associates.
Ringwood-based KJ personality-profiled 19 managers, supervisors and potential managers to reveal management styles and characteristics as a foundation to the development.
Key Industrial's head of HR, Vanessa Osborne, described the personality profiling as "highly accurate" in identifying skills to benefit their managers and supervisors in their roles.
Katie Jones of KJ also applied Belbin Team Roles to help the delegates develop as a management team and to better understand their own natural team contribution and its impact.
Katie said: "Personality profiling - or Psychometric Measurement - is highly effective for highlighting essential work-related aspects of an individual's personality such as strengths & weaknesses, people skills, learning style and management potential."
The management team will now undergo a development programme over the next 12 months and potential managers will be included as part of the company's succession planning.
Vanessa said: "If we want our company to go forward, we need good managers. We want to help them develop strengths and think about where they need to adapt their management styles. The feedback so far has been very positive."
Katie said: "This type of in-house training benefits managers enormously in enhancing knowledge, skills and attitude, all of which enables their teams to work more effectively under their leadership."
Key Industrial - now one of the UK's largest suppliers of industrial and office equipment - has expanded its product ranges enormously over recent years. Formerly best known for its handling products, it now supplies products into sectors as diverse as sport, office supplies and commercial catering.
